1. Palming figure of eight combo
Step 1. Close your eyes and Use the palms of your hand to cover your eyes
Step 2. Imagine 2 large number ‘8’ figures in front of you one is vertical and the other horizontal.
Step 3. Now begin to trace/draw the large vertical number 8 with your eyes and do that about 5 times.
Step 4. Now begin to trace/draw the large horizontal number 8 with your eyes and do so again about 5 times before opening your eyes again.
Think of this as being a gentle massage for your eyes.
2. Good Yawning
Ever noticed how yawning produces tears, naturally? The process of yawning triggers your reflex tearing by squeezing the tear gland. Get yourself to yawn a few times in this exercise by simply trying to yawn, which should lead to a full-blown yawn taking over. Alternatively, you can film someone else yawning using your phone, and let that trigger your own yawn and tear flow.
3. 20-20-20 focus relaxation
Step 1. Hold your hands out in front of you at a visually comfortable near vision distance of about 50 cm or less.
Step 2. Point your two index fingers towards each other with a gap between them.
Step 3. Focus 20 feet away or across the room or window. You will notice that between the now blurred view of your fingers you will see a ‘sausage-like’ image appear between the gap in your fingers.
Step 4. After 20 seconds stop for 10 seconds then repeat the process about 5 times or less if your eyes feel more comfortable.
4. 10 Slow blinks
Slowly close your eyes and gently but firmly keep them shut for 5 seconds before slowly opening them again. Now repeat this ten times, then you’re finished. This is a simple, but surprisingly refreshing exercise that you can do anywhere.
