Are Swannies by Swanwick Sleep still the best blue blockers glasses online? I’m reviewing Swannies classic blue blockers glasses to answer the question and compare the Swanwick Sleep made Swannies with my retail optical blue blocker specs.

Blue blockers glasses have been popular for several years now. One of the companies that started the trend was Swanwick Sleep and they’re still going strong today with their brand of blue blocker that people refer to affectionately as Swannies.

Now I’ve been aware of Swanwick sleep and Swannies for a good few years now. I’ve gone and purchased my own pair of Swannies with my own cash so that I can test them against my ‘optical grade’ glasses to determine whether Swannies deserve the raving adoration of its fans across the world.

This particular Swanwick sleep are the night Swannies and they are the classic black regular that I purchased this from Amazon. It comes in this presentation box and once we open the box and have a look in we find the Swannies wrapped up in a soft drawstring bag and along with that we’ve also got a microfiber cleaning cloth the Swanwick brand and finally a support and thank you card.

Instantly the first thing that hits you about the glasses is the colour of the lenses and the second thing that hits you is the rather nice anti-reflection coating that’s on the lens; that’s what gives it that blue-like reflection, it looks really nice. The product itself
and everything looks really solid and actually quite well built and put
together. You get a nice sprung hinge mechanism too.

Of course with these kinds of products you’re always concerned about whether; once you get it, it looks really cheap and tacky but, yeah it looks really good and looks well put together.

So I believe I bought this pair for about £59 from, but two obvious ways that you can get your Swannies; you can get them from Amazon and you can also get them direct from the website as well.

On the Swanwick sleep website and instantly you’re hit with the range of products. one of the interesting thing about Swanwick sleep compared to other kinds of blue blockers
that you might find on Amazon etc is that they really kind of position
themselves more as a sleep company rather than just a  blue-blocking
glasses company to protect you from health conditions such as macular degeneration or even just to make your vision more comfortable on computers. Their primary focus is on getting a better night’s sleep after using Swannies and as a result, they typically will recommend that you wear your Swannies about an hour or two before you go to sleep and keep it on consistently before you sleep.

Founded in 2015 by brothers James Swanwick and brother Tristan Swanwick, Swannies have been an online sensation from the beginning.

The Swannies that I’ve got are night Swannies but they also have day Swannies, with the main difference really between day and night is the intensity of the orange
tint, so day Swannies are just a very light tint, in fact in these pictures it
almost looks like they’re not tinted at all, but they do have more of a visible tint in person. There appears to be a wider range to select from on their swanwicksleep.com website compared to amazon. Prices range from a reasonable $49 to $149 on their website before any promotions.

There’s quite a bit of diversity in styles and they’ve obviously taken the range and done quite a bit with colour variations and things as well. They also
have normal sunglasses and then they also have full prescription lens service available on their website, with only off-the-shelf reading lenses available on a=Amzon. So that’s one good reason to shop on their website over Amazon. They provide prescription single revision lenses and progressive lenses too.

Now back to the product and as for my thoughts about the optical quality…

My first impression of putting them on, I was actually pretty amazed because optically if they are really really good. So I’ve got here some blue light blocking glasses that I made up with a local laboratory that I know and using that as my reference and putting them one I thought these lenses were pretty good but, compared to the Swaniwck
lenses, the Swannies are far superior in terms of clarity, saturation of colours, quality of the tint just seems so much better and the anti-reflection coating that
it’s got on there as well makes a big difference I think as well in
visual comfort and also the optical quality of the lens and what you see through it. So, it certainly did leave me understanding a bit better why people
really rave about this product.

I would say that looking through the lenses it does seem like it’s
generally are just a better quality of lens then I might have expected. So in
terms of the quality of the frame I think it’s very robust probably a
little bit better than the quality of the frame that I had made up into my own
blue blockers so yeah, certainly no complaints there; it’s got sprung joints,
everything seems well put together, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of faults in
the lacquer or the paintwork in the joints or hinges and even
the points where the lenses are mounted.

Styling wise; styling is a big reason why people are like Swanwicks and they’re Swanwick sleep glasses and products. They’re just styled really well as well certainly compared to the onesI made up for myself.

So having gone out and purchased these Swannies with my own cash and having tested them out I can really attest to the fact that the lens is really are brilliant, the anti-reflection coating on there, in particular, I think really makes a big difference so I have
no reservations whatsoever in giving Swanwick sleep glasses a firm a recommendation of buy based purely on the optics of the lenses, how easy it is to look through and how comfortable they make your vision.

Now will they help you sleep better? I think everybody is different in my experience I think it did make a difference in terms of how at ease I was before I went to sleep and I generally sleep fairly well anyway so I think it was hard for me to judge I think he definitely made a difference in terms of my visual comfort and my preparedness
for sleep. So I certainly don’t doubt that it can help people sleep more comfortably and sleep quickly as well. Certainly looking at the reviews
in the many reviews of Swanwick sleep customers, many people swear by them that they do help.

Question: Do you currently use blue bucking glasses? Is it something
you’re thinking about? Do they help you sleep better? Let me know in the comments below.
